Young Leaders Advisory Council

Programs and Opportunities

Members of the Young Leaders Advisory Council (YLAC) enjoy the camaraderie of serving as ambassadors for Hartford Hospital by organizing and attending educational, networking, philanthropic, and volunteer events throughout the year. YLAC events and engagement opportunities include:

Leadership Conversation Series

YLAC Breakfast 2010Once a year YLAC members and Hartford Hospital and Hartford HealthCare leadership come together for breakfast and an open discussion about a range of topics. The members-only event is an opportunity for YLAC members to give hospital leaders feedback and for hosptial leadership to discuss the healthcare system’s role in the community and the industry.

YLAC members also have the chance to meet with hospital board members and hospital leadership during the course of the year to discuss topics such as board service or current healthcare topics.

Above, Jeff Flaks, executive vice president and COO, Hartford HealthCare,  and Stuart Markowitz, president, Hartford Hospital and Hartford Region and senior vice president, Hartford HealthCare, speak with YLAC members at a breakfast meeting.

Spring Into Action

YLAC Check Presentation to Labor and Delivery July 2015YLAC’s signature fund-raising event is Spring Into Action. Held in the spring each year, the event benefits a chosen hospital program voted for by YLAC's Executive Committee members. In July 2015 YLAC presented a check for more than $10,000 to Hartford Hospital’s Labor and Delivery unit to assist in the purchase of glider rockers for new mothers and their families. The money was raised through ticket sales, a silent auction, and donations.

Spring Into Action 2014Throughout the year, YLAC members get to know each other while supporting YLAC activities and learning about hospital programs. Networking events are held at various locations in Greater Hartford, including at some of Hartford’s best restaurants. In addition to appetizers and lively conversation, networking events may also include auctions and/or drawings for prizes, with proceeds benefiting hospital programs.
